So things are moving quickly along here in September.
Without much further eloquence, let's get on it, since it's a short entry.
New Book!
That's right, a friend of mine sent me this to help augment my shelf of pirate books and stuff.
It reminds me of one of those soft cover texts I had to get when I was taking online college courses for my degree.
But I do appreciate the gesture and thought.
(Arrrr...) |
The Fall season is in the air.
How can I tell?
Easy.
I know it's the season when I see jet contrails making Elder signs in the sky above the town I live in!
My suspicions are doubly confirmed when this comes out for the year.
(IA! IA! C'thulhu F'atagan!!!) |
My suspicions are doubly confirmed when this comes out for the year.
(Still missing "Fruit Brute", but that's okay. We have BOO BERRY!!!) |
Meanwhile, Gemma makes sure that "Dad" gets his sleep.
A SHELVING DILEMNA....
So with the recently completed figures for my 18th Century stuff, I placed them on the shelves in the display case.
And immediately noticed a problem.
Check it out and see....
(Ohhhh...that's not good at all...) |
That's a 1/8th of an inch plexiglass shelf there.
Bending under the weight of figures.
So I attempted a fix by removing the figures and placing the second shelf on top of the first, making two shelves into a 1/4" thickness.
Nope. Bend still happened.
So now I have to go back and price and order 1/4" glass shelves.
I was actually kind of prepared to cry when I saw the price but then was oddly surprised to find out that the glass shelves were 117 dollars while the plexiglass shelves had now gone to 202 each.
Odd because last time the plexiglass shelves were much, much, cheaper than the glass.
So glass shelves it shall be!
And speaking of figures:
18th Century population....
As I got the figures out of the display case, I did group photos and a count of "What I had."
This is the count for "complete" figures. (Complete meaning, painted, flocked, and sealed and ready for play.)
Here is my current count:
18th Century Figure Count (completed).
Pirates: 80
British Military: 40 (and two cannon).
Civilians: 140 (including the Irish)...
Here's the group photos.
First up is the civilians. Lots of names and backstories here.
Then my woefully under manned British Military forces. Don't worry more are on their way...
And finally, my "Pirate Scum", or "Scumbag Pirates", or whatever you wish to call them. Don't worry, more of them are coming also...
And as I close this entry, I have a surprise for everyone in the next entry. Be on the lookout for it.
And Gemma keeps watch from the window, awaiting your return....
("Y'all come back now, ya hear?") |
More to come!
Stay tuned, and thanks for reading!
