AIIIIIEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

AKA: "The Sneaky Things That Women Do"...

or

"From Gameroom to Garage..."

"Let this be a lesson boys...
Whenever you should roam...
Let this be a lesson lads...
When you leave your toys alone..."

It amazed me.
How they did it.
So quickly, efficiently, and sneakily...
Yes..sneaky.

The plan started out weekend before last with the idea of us "cleaning and straightening out the garage...
True, it was a mess...and needed mucho work.
And Menards had shelving on sale.
"This is the perfect weekend to straighten up the garage!" said the lady.
So I nodded and sighed.
And we began to work on "the mess"...

and to think that the original idea behind the garage was to park your car in there...ahahahahaha! Look at the "stuff"...geez...

Stuff, stuff, and MORE stuff....time to get this mess straight...

SEVEN HOURS LATER....

We are soaked in sweat and dust, dirt, and grime. but the garage is "organized. The first of 8 feet of shelf is up and items are neatly stacked on it...including old games....

Well I will admit, it does look nicer and it's clean, and I can walk through it without tripping, and who knows? I might actually FIND what I am looking for!

Hmmmm....Shelves and my games on it...some of them...

Some of my olllllllllllllld games....The "Fortress America" game was only played twice...almost mint condition and over 20 years old...

So with that weekend behind us, and the next weekend ahed of me, I eagerly left the ladies, (my lady and my daughter), behind while I went off to enjoy a nice quiet weekend of CIVIL WAR REENACTING!!!!

And I died a lot...

On Sunday I piled myself and gear back into the truck and headed home.

Upon arrival, my lady, hugged me and said "I've got a wonderful surprise for you!"

And with those words, she took me out to the garage...

And showed me her handiwork... (scroll down)...

AIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes! Their evil plan was complete!

During my absence my lady with daughters limited help, had moved almost ALL of my gaming/work stuff from the room, into the garage...including...

My table...

and my paint drawers...

The bookshelf she moved to the living room, and cleared it of ALL gaming stuff, and replaced it with books and our decanter collection. The gaming stuff wne to the back bookshelves of my office, (out of sight from anyone that might see it)...

And then she said...

"The next project I want to do is to move this..."

The Bongolesian Flag!!!!

She "made a space" for it on the garage wall!!!!!

Sadly enough, my game room/work room, has been turned into "my daughters room, and soon to be granddaughters room"...

So as with other minis gamers I've been exiled, relegated and cast out to the garage, to share my painting and work space with shelves of Christmas decorations, the water softener, garden tools and the rest of the general claptrap that people store in their garage...

My lady says that "I should have my game room back....soon..." but we know how how ambiguous that term is...

*sigh*

More to come....

Comments are appreciated....

Actually, that doesn't sound too bad. You've got everything clean, organized, and in one place - I wish I had people who'd do that for me! :)

soon to be granddaughters room

Congratulations soon to be Grandad!

It's life. I'm sure you are correct, never expect to occupy 'your' room ever again. Where the daughter/grandchild has put his/her foot there it shall remain.

Time for an addition to the house.

But on the bright side, you have a work space for miniatures and a table for gaming (even if no one will see it!).

Could have been worse...

I thought it was going to be a garage sale while you were out catching minie balls.

It could have been a lot worse...she could have sold them.
I am fortunate to have a wife that will actively look for space/room for all my crap.

My stuff got moved to the attic while I was home on mid-deployment leave earlier this year. My wife says that I will have "a space" when I get back home, but I haven't been able to nail down what exactly her vision for this space is. I suspect it will be much smaller than the bedroom I was using as a hobby room before.

If I want to use the garage, I will have to clean it out and remodel it, as Idaho tends to get pretty hot in the summer and quite cold in the winter. It would be hard to paint figures while wearing mittens.

I guess we should all be thankful that our toys are allowed in the house at all.
